A beautiful stretch of the Yarra Valley
Trail can now be safely enjoyed between Yarra Glen and the Gulf Road, Melba Hwy intersection. A new footbridge allows trail users to cross Steels Creek along the trail itself. The section of the trail is already popular and supporting an increase in visitation into Yarra Glen.
Stage 1B currently runs just beyond the old Yering Station, across two heritage rail bridges. Construction from the second bridge to the Birrarung | Yarra River is planned to begin early 2026. The steel structures for the three heritage bridges included in this stretch are currently being fabricated off-site.
Yarra Valley Railway has finished replacing the heritage between Yarra Glen and TarraWarra and will be able to commence operating trains between these points in the future.
The planning permit for Stage 2A, between Yarra Glen and Healesville has been submitted.
Yarra Ranges Council remains committed to delivering this game-changing community asset, and advocating for additional funding remains a top priority as we head into the 2026 State election.
