Warburton Bike Park: Trail Opening Update
The Warburton Bike Park trails team is keeping a close eye on weather and trail conditions as we prepare to open the first 30kms of trail on 19 July. Following a dry summer, recent and forecasted rainfall is impacting some of the newer trails, which are still in the process of settling.
Our priority is delivering the best possible trail experience.
While many of the more established trails have had time to bed in, some of the recently constructed sections remain soft and muddy due to the rain. These may not fully settle before riders hit the trails later in July. The experience will only get better as the year goes on, and we encourage you to plan your first visits around drier days.
After years of planning and development—including Victoria’s most comprehensive environmental impact assessment—we’re thrilled to be opening the first 30km of the network. However, the team is already looking ahead to Autumn 2026, when we anticipate opening the next stage of the network, bringing the total to over 60km. This phase will cater to a broader range of skill levels and riding styles, and will include additional services such as shuttles. It is at this stage, we’ll be marking the milestone with a dedicated opening event.
Why a staged rollout?
Opening the trails in stages allows us to manage operations—like parking and infrastructure—more effectively. It also gives local businesses and the community time to adapt to changes in visitation. We’re aiming for a gradual increase in visitors to ensure a smooth transition for everyone involved.
This approach is common for new visitor experiences and has proven successful at other mountain bike destinations.
We’re aware that early access may bring some maintenance challenges, but we’re confident that World Trail have created fantastic trails that are as resilient as they can be when working in the natural environment. Both they and our in-house maintenance crew are on hand to address any major issues.
Planning your visit?
If you’re considering riding later in July, we recommend waiting for a few consecutive dry days for the best experience. Once the trails are fully settled, we expect year-round access.
Please ride respectfully and keep an eye out for signage along the trails.
