Yarra Valley Trail Project update – Old rails removed and stockpiled, trail almost ready for surfacing
The construction of the Yarra Valley Trail Stage 1A is well underway.
The old railway has been removed and stockpiled for future use of heritage railways, unfortunately many of the old sleepers were non-existent or rotted out.
The original trail ballast has been compacted in preparation for the trail toppings, (cement stabilised Castella Pathmaster).
Drainage and platform works at Yering and Coldstream stations are now underway. Minor bridge crossings, trail construction and fencing will be completed in the coming months.
The trail is due to open to the public in October this year.
