Launching Place
It’s believed that Launching Place is named after the spot on the Yarra River where the freshly cut logs from down the valley were floated down the river to be milled in Melbourne. That is, the logs were ‘launched’ at this place along the Yarra River, before the construction of the Upper Yarra Reservoir. The old Launching Place station is found near the Home Hotel, this section of trail is flat, ideal for riding or walking into the township of Yarra Junction and is a population section for horse riders.
- Parking: All day parking at 2234 Warburton Highway, Rail Trail adjacent to the Home Hotel
