Yering to the River – 1B.2 Construction Update

Construction continues along Stage 1B.2 between Yering and the Birrarung | Yarra River, towards Yarra Glen.

This stretch includes four bridges running along the elevated rail corridor. This section of the trail is on track to open in the second half of 2026.

The trail currently ends north of McIntyre Lane, Yering.  Trail users will need to turn around, as the rail corridor beyond is part of the Stage 1B.2 construction site.

Once the trail reaches the river later this year, a major bridge and elevated boardwalk will be required to cross the Birrarung | Yarra River and its floodplain to Yarra Glen.

Securing funding for this critical link remains a key advocacy priority for Council in the lead up to the 2026 State election and through future grant opportunities.
