Environmental values checks update

World Trail has almost completed their ground truthing of the proposed trails. Significant work has been undertaken to realign trails in response to environmental and heritage values protection as well as community feedback on the proximity of trails to residential areas.

A team of ecologists from Practical Ecology is now walking the proposed alignments and conducting environmental values checks. They are checking that the trail alignment conforms to a series of protocols developed to protect environmental values and undertaking detailed ecological surveys along the alignment.

Once the environmental values check has been completed, this information will be used to determine if the trail alignment needs to be altered further to avoid sensitive areas.

The information will also be used to inform the Environmental Risk Assessment, Environmental Effects Statement Referral and Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act Referral to be submitted later this year.
